  • The World Cup Challenge is quite simple. There will be a group of 8 people who will participate in a snake draft to select all 32 teams competing in the World Cup. Each person in the draft will end up with 4 teams. There are 2 ways to win money. Half the pot goes to the person with the World Cup Winner. The other half of the pot goes to the person with the most points from all 4 of their teams. See below for more specific details.

  • The draft will be done using a Google Sheet. All 8 members will have access to a spreadsheet that they can view and edit. I will lock the sheet to everybody except for who is currently picking. Once they have selected their team, I will alert the next person and unlock the sheet for them. There will be no set draft time and the draft could take several days. Continue your life as you normally would and I will let you know when it is your pick. If you are sleeping or busy, just make the pick when you wake up or are able to find a minute to decide on the team you want.

    The draft order will be randomly determined by an online generator well before the draft. I will post a link so you can see the draft results in real time if you’d like

  • For the team portion of this competition, you will get points for how your teams perform every game. At the end of the World Cup, the person who has the most points between their 4 teams will win half the pot. See below for how to accumulate points

    Win = 3 points
    Tie = 1 point
    OT/SO Loss = 1 point

  • If there is a tie in points at the end of the World Cup, The tie will be broken in the following order

    • Goal Differential

    • Goals Scored

    • Goals Allowed

    • Team that advanced the farthest

    • Team with highest scoring player (goals)

    • If somehow still tied…split the pot

  • It will likely cost either $50 or $100 to play. I will contact the group of 8 before drafting and see what kind of money they collectively want to wager.
